Brazoswood Robotic Take Another Step Toward State 2021
Brazoswood Robotics JV (Texas Toast) and Varsity (Texas Fried Chicken) teams competed in their league finals this past Friday, April 30th. The competition was multifaceted and included a robot competition, team interviews, and an engineering portfolio review.
In the robot competition teams score points by making deliveries guided by computer vision and by shooting foam rings at targets. The Texas Toast and Texas Fried Chicken teams battled for the top spot all year with each taking 1st place at different meets. In the end the Fried Chickens placed 2nd and the Toast placed 3rd in the points race overall.
In the interview and portfolio portion teams present their work, answer questions from a panel of judges, and demonstrate their robot.
The Texas Toast, made up of 1st year students, won the Connect Award. The Connect Award is given to teams that have a strong plan for sustainability and connect with their community.
The Texas Fried Chickens won 3rd place in the Think Award and 3rd place in the Connect Award. They won the Control Award for best programming. Finally they won the Inspire Award for best overall team!
Both teams will be advancing to regionals on May 22nd at San Jac College to battle for an opportunity in the State robotics competition on June 14th at the Alamodome in San Antonio.
