First Responders Tribute 9-9-16

Hopper Field was covered in brilliant red, white, and blue under the Friday night lights as both Brazoswood and Lamar Consolidated came together to acknowledge the 15 year anniversary of 9/11 and pay tribute to area first responders. Brazoria County Sheriff’s Department, local police, fire, and EMS departments were special guests of BISD and lined the field as a tribute was read by the announcer. Bands from both schools joined to play America the Beautiful as the AFJROTC, under the direction of Col. Baker and Chief Caesar, unfurled two large American flags. Both bands played the National Anthem, directed by LCISD Director Brad Miller (2010 Brazoswood Graduate), while both schools’ football teams, cheerleaders, flag, and drill teams gathered to hold the large American flags stretched across the playing field.

It was a great reminder of the heroes that saved so many lives and the unifying strength when we come together for a common goal. Thank you to all who made it such a meaningful night.
