The TMEA Region XVII All-Region Jazz Band tryouts were held at Brazoswood High
School, on September 17. Over 70 students from around the Region auditioned for a
spot in the All-Region Jazz Bands. This year, students from Brazoswood High School
received 17 of those spots – the most of any school in Region 17.
Students who were awarded with All-Region honors are: Koen Chacon (trombone),
Callen Eisenhart (trumpet), Kevin Eldho (bass trombone), Kolin Kluge (tenor sax),
Trevor Kuhlman (alto sax), Isaac Martinez (trombone), Jacob Raess (trombone), and
Mason Walls (trumpet).
In addition to receiving All-Region Honors, these students were also recognized at the
area level, with the opportunity to compete for a spot in the All-State Jazz Band: Leelan
Jackson (drums), Jeremiah Johnson (trombone), Wade King (bass trombone), Ethan
Lackey (bass guitar), Julian Moreno (bari sax), Salvador Ruelas (trombone), Nicholas
Thompson (drums), Maya Warren (tenor sax), and Graysen Winters (trumpet).
These students will participate in a clinic and concert with the other members of the
Region 17 Jazz Band, held at Brazoswood High School on November 12.
