Brazoswood Parent Newsletter #4

Good Afternoon Parents and Students,

Our word for August and September is Self Direct.   Self Direct:  Setting goals for who you want to be and what you want to do. Then, take steps on your own to get there. We are in the first 9 weeks of the semester. Ask your child, “What goals do you want to achieve for the first 9 weeks of school? What steps will you take to accomplish your goals?”

Communications Department

Unfortunately, once a parent unsubscribes from our emails, we have to manually unblock them. That is the only way to get the parents back in the system. If you are not receiving communications from the school or district, you can email communications@brazosportisd.net and they will look into it and give you feedback.

If you would like to receive Text Messages from the school or district please follow these steps:

  • Sends to all contacts marked as a parent or guardian's cell phone listed on file for your child.

  • You must OPT IN by texting YES to 67587

  • Text STOP to 67587 to OPT OUT

  • Standard text messaging rates do apply.

To receive timely and accurate notifications, it is imperative that parents' email addresses are correct in the Parent Self Serve.  Please make sure you have not blocked our phone number or you will not be able to receive our communications. Stay up to date with the Brazosport ISD Website and the Brazoswood Website, Facebook, and Twitter.

Attendance Office (live link)

Our campus goal for attendance is 94% so let’s work together to get here on time and submit the notes to the attendance office within 48 hours.  If you sign a student out for a doctor’s appointment, please submit a note from the doctor’s office within 48 hours. A student is considered absent if they miss any 15 minutes of a class. We will begin marking tardies on Monday August 17, 2026.   Attendance notes can be submitted using the live link: Attendance Office

Nurse Information

Welcome to the new school year! The Brazoswood Nursing Team is committed to supporting your student's health and well-being throughout the year. If your student will need medication during the school day, please complete the Medication Administration Request Form and review all requirements listed on the form. The form must be completed and signed by both the parent/guardian and the student's health care provider for all prescription and over the counter medications.  If your child has a chronic medical condition, requires nursing services, and/or has an Emergency Action Plan, please contact the appropriate school nurse to set up a meeting.

Parent Questions, Concerns, and Conferences

In order to ensure timely communication and action, if there are concerns or questions in your child’s classroom please contact the teacher FIRST.  They will be able to answer your questions and address any of your concerns.  Allow the teacher the opportunity to communicate with you and your student first. If the teacher, student, and parent cannot come to an agreement or resolution, please schedule an appointment with your child’s Assistant Principal and teacher. We will respond to emails and parent phone calls during school hours 7:10-3:30.  We appreciate all your cooperation and collaboration as we work together to meet our student needs.  We all want the BEST for each and every student.  Let’s all work together to positively support one another for our students’ success.

Attention Parents:  Please make sure your child is picked up from school in a timely manner each day.  Dismissal begins at 3:15 p.m. and supervision ends at 3:45 p.m.  Please review the Administrative Regulation and Protocols below:
