Brazoswood Parent Newsletter #9

Good Afternoon Parents and Students,

Tomorrow is a School Holiday for Students.  We will be closed to the public as we will be in campus trainings tomorrow.

Our word for September is Self-Direct.  Based on the "Capturing Kids' Hearts" (CKH) curriculum, Self-Direct means a student takes responsibility for their own learning, choices, and behavior without needing constant reminders, supervision, or external direction from teachers or parents.

Key aspects of self-direction include:

  • Self-Regulation & Discipline: Managing one's time, staying focused on tasks, and making positive choices independently.

  • Goal Setting & Initiative: Taking ownership of academic and personal goals, identifying steps to reach them, and taking action proactively.

  • Problem-Solving: Working through challenges or seeking resources independently before relying on others.

  • Accountability: Accepting responsibility for actions, decisions, and outcomes rather than blaming external factors.

CKH Parent Newsletter

Attention Seniors and Senior Parents:  Please remove all bonfire signs from Slade Field by October 4, 2026.

Student Items

Unfortunately we are unable to have any forgotten items dropped off and/or delivered to students.  We do not have the staff or time to deliver any of these forgotten items (this includes cell phones).  We need to provide adequate student supervision for our students to ensure their safety and the campus safety.  We appreciate your cooperation and collaboration with us on this matter.

Student Lunches

We are a closed campus for lunches. All students must remain on campus for lunches unless they have an Off period or College period.  Lunch deliveries and Door Dash are prohibited. If you are arriving late to campus from a doctor’s appointment or other appointment please finish all refreshments or food prior to arrival.  Parents may not drop off food for his or her student.  We appreciate all your help and cooperation.

Brazoswood Yearbooks

Brazoswood HS yearbooks can be ordered online at www.JostensYearbooks.com

Attendance Office (live link)

Our campus goal for attendance is 94% so let’s work together to get here on time and submit the notes to the attendance office within 48 hours.  If you sign a student out for a doctor’s appointment, please submit a note from the doctor’s office within 48 hours. A student is considered absent if they miss any 15 minutes of a class.  Attendance notes can be submitted using the live link: Attendance Office

Parent Questions, Concerns, and Conferences

In order to ensure timely communication and action, if there are concerns or questions in your child’s classroom please contact the teacher FIRST.  They will be able to answer your questions and address any of your concerns.  Allow the teacher the opportunity to communicate with you and your student first. If the teacher, student, and parent cannot come to an agreement or resolution, please schedule an appointment with your child’s Assistant Principal and teacher. If you have any questions and/or concerns for Brazoswood Administration, please use this chart and allow the Brazoswood administration the opportunity to communicate with you FIRST before going straight to the superintendent, the JUSTAsk button, district office, and/or social media platforms.  We will respond to emails and parent phone calls during school hours 7:10-3:30.  We appreciate all your cooperation and collaboration as we work together to meet our student needs.  We all want the BEST for each and every student.  Let’s all work together to positively support one another for our students’ success!

Appointments with Campus Leadership:  The Brazoswood Administration team supervises students before and after school as well as during the 11:00-12:45 lunch period. We also attend ARDs, 504 meetings, conduct classroom observations, attend department and PLC meetings, and complete other duties as assigned. If you need to schedule a meeting with an administrator about your student, please use this chart and schedule a meeting with the appropriate administrator for your student alpha split.  It is very difficult to take walk-in appointments as often schedules are set well in advance. We do contact parents in emergencies and schedule appointments as needed depending on the severity of the discipline and/or if it is a safety concern.

Attention Parents:  Please make sure your child is picked up from school in a timely manner each day.  Dismissal begins at 3:15 p.m. and supervision ends at 3:45 p.m.  Please review the Administrative Regulation and Protocols below:
Administrative Regulation and Protocol for Children NOT Collected From School

New Pep Rally Procedure - Parent and/or Visitors

Please fill out the google form in its entirety to ensure your seat at the pep rally.  Please plan to carpool as parking is limited. Please park and enter the 9th grade office doors and bring your driver’s license to quickly obtain your paper badge. We will open the form at the beginning of each pep rally week on Facebook and close it at 1:00 p.m. the day before the pep rally.  We only have 75 seats for parents so we can ensure all of our students have a seat at the pep rally.  We also must remain in compliance with the fire code for seat capacity. After the pep rally ends, we need students to report back to class quickly so take pictures during the event and quickly afterwards.  Thank you for all your help and support to make this a fun and successful event!
