Each year choir members from around the state start the process to earn a spot in an All-State choir from the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA). There are four rounds of auditions where students prepare different pieces of music for each round.
The first round of the competition, District Auditions, was hosted at Manvel High School on September 21st where over 650 students from Brazosport ISD, Angleton ISD, Alvin ISD, Clear Creek ISD, and Dickinson ISD began the process.
Ten Brazoswood Choir students advanced and will compete on Saturday, Oct. 26th in the next round of auditions, with the goal of making the TMEA All-State Choir. Also exciting is that Brazoswood Choir had six musicians place in the top 10 within their voice part. Here is the list of students and rankings:
- Bailey Harris (Soprano 1)- 9th chair
- Kyrie Morgan (Alto 1)- 3rd chair
- Logan Pee-Robinson (Bass 2)- 8th chair
- Nicholas Reinhardt (Bass 2)- 7th chair
- Alexis Sanchez (Alto 2)- 7th chair
- Emanuel Servin (Tenor 2)- 5th chair
All of our students will need to place in the top 15 when they compete on Oct. 26th at Angleton High School in order to advance to the 3rd round that will take place in December.
