Brazoswood Jazz Bands Take Top Awards at Elite Festivals
The Brazoswood High School AM & PM Jazz Bands earned 1st place in their respective divisions at the 50th Annual University of Texas at Arlington Jazz Festival March 21 and 22. Competing against top 6A high schools from across the DFW metroplex over the two-day event, both groups took home 1st place in Division 1 & 2 categories. A special congratulations to senior Nicholas Thompson for being recognized as the Outstanding Rhythm Section Performer among all 6A schools!
This outstanding group of musicians weren’t done yet impressing contest judges. The following weekend, the Brazoswood PM Jazz Band earned another first place trophy at the Clear Falls Jazz Festival, with several AM Jazz Band members receiving accolades. Along with the band taking first place, some individual musicians were also recognized:
Emmie Dodson, Fabian Pena, Jackson Connell, James Jones, Jayden Rodriguez, Andrea Negrete, Callen Eisenhart, Addie Thomas, Mason Walls, Heather Paul, and Gavin Luevano.
