HOSA Trip to Washington DC
Four outstanding Brazoswood Future Health Professional Organization (HOSA) student leaders made the trip to Washington DC for the HOSA Washington Leadership Academy 2017. This outstanding national HOSA event provided the four BISD students the opportunity to meet and work with HOSA student participants from all across the nation, including Hawaii and Puerto Rico. The students participated in workshops that focused on improving their skills in public speaking, running efficient meetings, and other leadership aptitudes.
A special highlight of the week came Tuesday morning when our students met and spoke with Senator Ted Cruz. Following their meeting with Senator Cruz the students in partnership with State HOSA Leaders met and spoke with congressional and legislative aids to lobby for the Carl D. Perkins Vocational and Technical Education
“For a second year in a row the WLA has lit a fire in the hearts of our HOSA officers. They have come back with more passion and confidence than I could have ever imagined. I was proud to be their sponsor.” said Sara Ennis, Brazoswood HOSA sponsor.
A special thanks goes to the HOSA sponsors Mrs. Sara Ennis and Ms. Krystal Peña and to Mr. Michael Williams for helping with the trip and to the students who represented Brazosport ISD so well.
