BISD Staff to Return on Friday, September 8 and Students on Monday, September 11

Based on the large number of BISD staff and students currently displaced and the projections of increased flooding in our area, Brazosport ISD will remained closed until Monday, September 11th.  Please heed the county and city notices and only return if it is safe to do so. Students will not be penalized if absent due to the flooding.

Staff who can safely get into to work are asked to return to their campus or office on Friday, September 8.

The safety of our students and staff is our top priority. Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with those impacted by the flood waters. If you have questions, please go to the Just Ask feature on our district website.

Brazosport ISD is requesting that all staff report to work on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 and students to return on Wednesday, the 6th, as long as it is safe. BISD wants to provide staff time to prepare and this will also give the district an opportunity to address any facility issues that may have arisen.

“Please do not place yourself in danger,” said Danny Massey, Superintendent of Schools. “Many of our students and staff have been displaced due to flooding and this can be a very difficult and traumatic experience. We want to get our schools open because we know that students thrive in a return to normalcy. No student will be penalized if unable to attend.”

As of today, no water is inside any campus and none have received any significant damage. BISD will continue to monitor and assess the facilities and streets around campuses to ensure a safe return for everyone. Updates will be communicated on our website, through SchoolMessenger and on social media. You may also check area tv news stations.

“I have heard that difficult circumstances does not build character, but it reveals character. There has never been a time that I have been more proud to be in BISD and a member of this community than this week. Over and over we have seen great examples of giving, volunteering and helping those less fortunate than us,” Massey stated.

Thank you and please stay safe!
