The Brazoswood Band Places 4 in the Top 5 in Texas

The Brazoswood Band was once again well represented at the Texas Music Educators Association Convention in San Antonio February 8-11, 2017.

Our 4 All-State musicians each placed in the Top 5 in the state of Texas on their respective instruments. Congrats to Sam Macaraeg: 4th chair jazz trombone, Joseph Trahan: 2nd chair bari sax, Nathan Cloeter: 3rd chair french horn, and Philip Marshall: 2nd chair french horn. Each of these players took part in some amazing performances alongside some of the best musicians in the country!

On Friday morning, BISD’s own Ben Laurel, 10th grade student, performed with the Bayou City Bassoon Ensemble in their Showcase Performance with 15 other Houston area musicians.

Additionally, nearly 1,000 educators attended a clinic given by Brazoswood Band Director Brian Casey, former Brazoswood Assistant Ben Alaniz, and Baylor Director of Bands Dr. Eric Wilson. Their clinic, titled "What Do Great Rehearsals Look Like?" was both inspiring and educational.

It continues to be a great year for the Buc Band!
