HOSA Trip to Washington DC
Brazoswood Future Health Professional Organization (HOSA) leaders spent an action packed week in Washington DC at the Washington Leadership Academy. This outstanding national HOSA event provided the six student leaders the opportunity to meet and work with HOSA student participants from all across the nation, including Alaska and Hawaii. The Brazoswood students worked with National and State HOSA leaders in workshops that taught skills in public speaking, running efficient meetings, and other leadership aptitudes.
A special highlight of the week came Tuesday morning when the students met and spoke with congressmen and legislative aids to lobby for the Carl D. Perkins Vocational and Technical Education Act.
“The students had a great time and have come back with such enthusiasm for this HOSA year!” said Sara Ennis, Brazoswood HOSA sponsor. “It was a greater experience than we could have ever imagined.”
A special thanks goes to the HOSA sponsors Mrs. Sara Ennis and Ms. Krystal Pena and to Assistant Principal Mr. Herman Hebert for helping with the trip and to the students who represented Brazosport ISD so well.
