1966 Graduate of Brazosport High School
After graduation from Brazosport High School, he attended Texas Tech University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering.
Mr. Walker joined Dow Texas Operations in 1970 as a production engineer. He has held a number of senior leadership positions for the company over his 37 year career including Business Director for the Adhesives and Barrier business, major manager of Plastics, Monomers and Occupational Health at Michigan Division, Business Manufacturing Leader for the Global Polystyrene Business, Vice President and Operations Director for Dow’s Eastern Canada Operations, Seadrift Operations and St. Charles Operations. Mr. Walker was named to the Texas Operations role in 2004.
Bob Walker has been involved with numerous organizations that help make our county and our state better. Some of his affiliations include serving on the Texas Chemical Council, Brazoria County’s Petrochemical Council, the Brazosport Regional Health System Board of Directors, and named to Texas Task Force on Evacuation, Transportation and Logistics by Governor Rick Perry.
During Mr. Walker’s tenure in Freeport, he has implemented the Dow Texas Operations Education Grants Program. This program provides grants of up to $10,000 for private and public schools in Southern Brazoria County conducting educational projects that encourage the development of skills and enjoyment in math and science.
After serving as vice president and site director of The Dow Chemical Company’s Texas Operations, Bob Walker was named Manufacturing and Engineering (M&E) vice president.
