The TMEA Region XVII Jazz Band tryouts were held in September, with over 50 students from around the Region auditioning for a spot in the All-Region Jazz Bands. This year, students from Brazoswood High School received 19 of those spots – the most of any school in Region 17.
Students who were awarded with All-Region honors are: Koen Chacon (trombone), Milana Duarte (trumpet), Kevin Eldho (bass trombone), Trevor Kuhlman (alto sax), Isaac Martinez (trombone), Brooklynn Moore (alto sax), Nicholas Thompson (drums) Maya Warren (tenor sax), and Graysen Winters (trumpet).
In addition to receiving All-Region Honors, these students were also recognized at the Area level, with the opportunity to compete for a spot in the All-State Jazz Band: Isaac Deavenport (bass) Rory Duncanson (piano), Connor Holt (tenor sax), Leelan Jackson (drums), Jeremiah Johnson (trombone), Wade King (bass trombone), Jacob Markham (trumpet), Julian Moreno (bari sax) Matthew Pulido (trumpet), and Bryton Sanabria (trombone).
In November, these students participated in a clinic with world class educators, and presented a concert with other students from Region 17 at Brazosport High School.
