Elevating and Celebrating Effective Teaching and Teachers (ECET2) is a national network supported by an organization called Teacher 2 Teacher and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. The conference was held in Texarkana, TX, on February 2-3 and had around 200 attendees. ECET2 centers around the idea that teachers should be empowered as leaders in their campuses and districts, and their educational philosophy follows a model based on: Grow, Collaborate, and Lead. ECET2 Regional convenings are designed to help teachers build a network of other teachers, learn new strategies and solutions for teaching, and praise outstanding veteran and emerging teachers for their work everyday in the classroom. Each session is led by a teacher, and all of the speakers are teachers. It’s professional development BY teachers FOR teachers!

I presented a session titled "Nearpod: Using Technology to Engage your Students", where I shared my expertise on incorporating Nearpod into the classroom. Nearpod is an interactive online presentation tool, which allows teachers to incorporate engaging multimedia components into lessons, as well as building in formative assessment opportunities to gauge student progress in real time. Technology can be a valuable tool in the classroom when used well!

Thank you Katelyn for representing BISD and “setting the standard for educational excellence!”
