Brazoswood HOSA Student Advances Directly to State


Brazoswood’s Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) organization had 53 students participate in the 1st round of competitive events. The first round consists of an online test taken with a proctor at Brazoswood High School.They competed against all students in Texas HOSA Area 2.


The following students placed in the top 10 of their event and will advance to Round 2 which is held during the HOSA Area 2 Spring Conference in February. At the Spring conference, which will be held at Turner High School, they will perform specific skills for their event and put their knowledge to the test. The top 3 from their events, with their online test and skills score combined, will advance to the State Competition in April.  


Below are student results after the first round:

Serena Martinez - Clinical Nursing (1st out of 47)

Kimberlyn Rumsey - Clinical Nursing (4th out of 47)

Julia Lampe & Monica McAllister - Emergency Medical Technician ( 5th out of 22)

Kendall Jurecka & Jenna Sandefur - Forensic Medicine (2nd out of 34)

Larissa Kidd - Medical Assisting (6th out of 38)

Eryn Harris - Sports Medicine (5th out of 39)


Additionally, the following student took a knowledge-based exam and advance directly to the Texas HOSA State competition in April.  


Amanda Price - Nutrition (1st out of 47)
